Types of Weight Plates:

Bumper Plates: Bumper plates are a type of Olympic weight plate made of rubber or rubber-coated material. Bumper plates are also color-coded based on their weight, allowing for easy identification.

Fractional Plates: Fractional plates are smaller weight plates typically used for incremental weight increases, especially in strength training and powerlifting. They come in sizes like 0.5 pounds (0.23 kg), 0.75 pounds (0.34 kg), 1 pound (0.45 kg), or even smaller. Fractional plates allow for more precise load adjustments, particularly for exercises where adding larger weight increments might be too challenging.

Coated or Rubberized Plates: Some weight plates, particularly Olympic plates, come with a rubber or urethane coating. This coating provides additional protection against damage to floors, reduces noise, and helps prevent rust and corrosion.

Plate Sets: Weight plates are commonly sold in sets, which include a combination of different-sized plates to allow for a wide range of weight options. Sets may include pairs of plates in specific weights or a combination of various plate sizes to accommodate different exercise needs.

When purchasing weight plates, it's essential to ensure compatibility with your barbell. Consider the diameter of the center hole and the type of barbell you have (standard or Olympic) to ensure the plates will fit securely on the bar.
