How to Prevent Sports Injuries in children While Playing Soccer?

Playing soccer is an intense competitive sport, and for children interested in soccer, giving their all on the field and colliding with each other during ball contests is a common occurrence. Especially when there is a collision between a tall child and a smaller one, serious injuries can occur for the smaller child, possibly leading to long-term consequences. The most common soccer-related sports injuries are knee joint injuries, particularly injuries to the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments. Another common injury is ankle sprains, shoulder injuries, and overuse injuries resulting in ankle and back pain, as well as patellar ligament injuries leading to knee pain.

Research by sports medicine experts has found significant physiological differences in the developing brain of children compared to adults. Young athletes are more prone to consciousness loss and longer recovery times after severe brain injuries. Heading the ball during soccer is most likely to cause severe head and neck injuries.

Many parents do not heed the advice of sports medicine experts and do not attend to their children while playing soccer. Additionally, most child soccer games lack official referees, and violations are not effectively stopped, making it easier for children to get injured. Therefore, when children play soccer, besides having physical education teachers guiding them, there should also be healthcare professionals present to handle injuries promptly if they occur.
