Morning Vitality yoga: Gate Pose

Correct your posture, promote blood circulation, elongate the limbs, and increase flexibility in the hip joints. It has a great effect on reducing excess fat on both sides of the body.

1. Kneel, keep your back straight, and bring both knees together.

● Kneel on a Yoga Mat, keeping your back straight, and aligning your hip and knee joints in a straight line. Let your hands hang naturally by your sides.

2. Extend both arms to the sides and stretch the right leg to the right.

● Extend both arms laterally at shoulder level, with palms facing down. Stretch the right leg to the right side, pointing the right foot to the right, aligning the toes with the left knee.

3. Bend the upper body to the right and raise the left arm.

● Bend the upper body to the right, placing the right hand on the right foot, and extend the left arm upward. Gaze at the left hand. Avoid leaning forward and hold the pose for 30 seconds. Return to the starting position of Step 1, and repeat the movement on the other side.

Gate Pose is a wonderful yoga posture that targets the side body, helping to create space and openness in the ribcage, hips, and shoulders. This pose not only provides a gentle stretch to the muscles but also helps to calm the mind and relieve stress. It is an excellent addition to your morning yoga routine to start the day with a sense of balance and tranquility.

As you perform the Gate Pose, remember to breathe deeply and mindfully. Inhale to create length in the spine, and exhale to deepen the stretch as you bend to the side. Listen to your body, and only go as far into the pose as feels comfortable for you.

Regular practice of the Gate Pose can enhance your overall flexibility, promote better alignment, and contribute to a more grounded and centered sense of being. Enjoy the benefits this pose brings, and have a rejuvenating yoga practice ahead!
